The Sandlot is a 1993 American coming‑of‑age sports comedy film about a shy new boy in a 1962 California neighborhood who is taken in by a local group of kids that play daily baseball at a nearby sandlot and, over one memorable summer, they bond through a series of adventures that culminate in trying to recover a prized Babe Ruth–signed ball from the yard of a fearsome dog known as “the Beast.”
