Paramount’s Lip Sync Battle
Saturday, January 24, 2026
Performance Rules & Guidelines

1. The number of acts is limited, so register early! Registration deadline: Tuesday, October
21, 2025. Registration Fee: $100 (due at time of application submission.) Drop off
applications to the Paramount Theatre office during business hours (1124 Meridian St.,
Anderson, IN) or email to: Dmiller@andersonparamount.org

2. Groups of all sizes are welcome (groups of 20 or more must be approved) - performers
must be 18 years old or older.

3. Each group will assign a designated contact person/team captain with whom all
communication will take place.

4. Must attend mandatory Meet & Greet at the Paramount Theatre on Sunday, November 2,
2025, at 6:00pm.

5. Mandatory dress rehearsal will be on the evening of Friday, January 23, 2026, at 5:00PM.
Dinner will be provided.

6. Cast pictures will be taken promptly at 5:45pm on the day of the show. Picture times for
Acts/Teams will be released at a later date. The show begins at 7:00PM.

7. The maximum time limit for your performance is 4 minutes. Songs may be a mashup of
songs. Songs must be submitted in advance and are subject to approval.

8. If stage sets or other significant props are used, contestants are allowed two (2) minutes
for setup and two (2) minutes for tear-down. A backstage crew member will be available to
help.

9. All songs and performances must be in good taste. Please keep performances PG-13: no
excessive vulgar language or inappropriate exposure.

10. Each performance must include the use of at least one microphone (lead singer). If the
song being performed is a duet or has multiple primary singers, each primary singer should
use a microphone.

11. You are responsible for all your own props. This includes instruments, additional
microphones, etc. Two prop microphones will be available for use, if needed.

12. Before settling on a song, please share your selection(s) by December 5, 2025, with the
Lip Sync Battle Production Director, Debbie Andis (Dandis@acsc.net or 765-617-7894) to
avoid any duplications or complications later.

13. Your group must supply a high-quality electronic file (MP3 or MP4) of your music
selection. All music is due to Debbie Andis (dandis@acsc.net) and Justin Alley
(jalley@andersonparamount.org) by Monday, January 5, 2026.

14. Lip Sync Battle participants agree to allow the Paramount Theatre to use any likenesses,
videos, or photographs taken during your performance for promotional use.

15. This is a special fundraising event to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the
historic Paramount Theatre. Each act will raise $1,000 or more through ClickBid (our online
fundraising software), social media, friends, and family voting. ($1 = 1 vote)

16. Performances will be judged in the following categories:

• Lip Sync Accuracy:

o Use of microphone.

o The ability to mouth the words of a song in perfect synchronization with the
recording, thereby creating the illusion that the person or group is actually
performing the song on stage in concert.

o Precise synchronization between the sound and performer is critical.

o When a word or note is being sustained for a long period of time, the performer
must exhibit the same amount of tension or energy which it takes to actually sing
the song.

o Any spoken words also should be recognized.
• Performance & Stage Presence: Ability to engage the crowd and generate audience
response. Don't just stand there!! Dance, smile, make eye contact, have fun, and WOW
your fans!

• Choreography/Movement: Use of facial expressions, gestures and
choreography/dance which simulates the likeness of the original performers.

• Costumes/Props: Go bold, glittery, and over-the-top with costumes. Make sure you can
move without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions. One or two strong, memorable
props will win over a pile of random stuff.

• Originality/Creativity: Don’t just copy the music video or artist’s outfit — take the
concept and put your own spin on it. Make it memorable.
There will be two (2) winners in each category:

People’s Choice Winner & Runner up (act with the most votes/highest fundraising total)

Judges’ Choice Winner & Runner up (highest scores and judges vote)

For the Judge’s Choice, each category is given a score of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, for a
total perfect score of 50.

All decisions by the judges are final. Rules are subject to change at the discretion of the
planning committee – participants will be notified of any changes prior to the event.

Helpful Hints

Perform a song that is fun, crowd appealing, and no more than 4 minutes long.
The best songs for lip syncing are upbeat tunes that allow for plenty of facial expressions and
exaggerated movements. Some slow songs may lend themselves well to being acted out.
Costumes and props are strongly encouraged.

Be creative with your props, costumes, choreography/dance, etc. Remember that you are
being scored on creativity and appearance, as well as your ability to lip sync.
You will be performing on the historic Paramount Theatre stage, which opened to a sellout
crowd in 1929. Many great performers have graced this stage... Gene Autry, Johnny Cash,
Blake Shelton, Sandi Patty... just to name a few! You will become a part of its amazing history.

Invite family and friends to cheer you on and have fun!!
